Why Meher Exists
Meher did not begin with a strategic plan. It began with a listening session — the 2024 Afghan Listening Session conducted by the Massachusetts AAPI Commission in Lowell. What Meena heard that day revealed both the depth of need and the inadequacy of existing resources to meet it.
What followed was not a program launch. It was a commitment to presence: over 2,000 hours of field engagement, home visits, community conversations, and relationship-building before a single program was designed — and well past 5,000 volunteer hours since.
Meena has personally funded Year One of Meher's operations. Every initiative Meher has launched is grounded in that listening, that investment, and that faith in what communities can become when they are truly met where they are.
